Charles W. Gibbons Jr., 60, of Wilbur Avenue, Warwick, died December 9, 2011 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Inpatient Center in Providence.
Born in Providence, a beloved son of Irene S. (Sherman) Gibbons of Warwick and the late Charles W. Gibbons, he was a lifelong Warwick resident. He was a graduate of the Rhode Island Trade Shops School.
Mr. Gibbons was a master automobile mechanic, most recently employed at Hunter’s Service Center in the Pawtuxet section of Warwick. He previously worked for several other auto service centers, including Direct Tire in Norwood, Mass.
Besides his mother he is survived by his former wife and loving companion, Kathy A. Gibbons Morrill of West Warwick; three sons, Charles W. Gibbons III and his wife, Linda, of Warwick, Gary A. Gibbons and his wife, Kayla, of Cranston and Kevin F. Gibbons of Sterling Conn.; two brothers, Frank E. Gibbons and Brian J. Gibbons, both of Warwick; eight grandchildren; a niece and a nephew; his pet cat, Salem; and his pigeon, Tweety.
His funeral service will be held Dec. 15 at 10 a.m. in Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Ave., Warwick. Visiting hours are Dec. 14 from 4-8 p.m. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston.
