Chef Watson to head up Libations Restaurant

Posted

A new chef has turned up the heat at Libations Restaurant and Lounge, the restaurant in the Radisson Providence Airport Hotel in Warwick. In keeping with the property’s Johnson & Wales University (JWU) signature, Chef Michael J. Watson is a graduate of the university.

A native of Orange Park, Fla., who now lives in Cranston, Chef Watson brings a wealth of culinary and industry experience obtained since earning his Bachelor of Science degree in culinary arts and food service management in 2011. He maintains Libation’s commitment to support local, sustainable farming by incorporating the freshest seasonal ingredients.

As an undergraduate, he interned at Butterfly Restaurant in San Francisco where the focus was on reasonably priced innovative dishes from various Asian cuisines. Later, he was a teaching assistant at JWU’s Charlotte campus. He then relocated to the Providence campus for a similar position and also served as a private chef to the campus president. In May of this year, he earned a Master of Business Administration in hospitality marketing at JWU’s Providence campus. Chef Watson is an avid brew master specializing in seasonal varieties.

“We’re delighted to have Chef Watson aboard to serve our hotel guests, Warwick neighbors and friends. In addition to great food and service, Libations is a fun and casual dining experience,” said General Manager José Estrompa.
