HELPING THE PROVIDENCE CENTER: Craig Chelo, Ian Lang of the Providence Center and Glenn Chelo are joined by children Olivia and Joseph Weidele to recognize the $12,080 raised for the benefit of the center at the recent Chelo’s 25th Annual Golf Classic.

Chelo’s Restaurant Group, the largest family-owned restaurant company in Rhode Island, recently raised $12,080 to help fund child and family behavioral health services at The Providence Center.

“Chelo’s generous donation will help ensure that The Providence Center is able to continue to meet the needs of children and adolescents who are experiencing emotional or behavioral challenges,” said Dale Klatzker, president and CEO of The Providence Center. “This gift is a testament to the Chelo family’s commitment to helping Rhode Islanders in need of behavioral health services.”

Funding for The Providence Center was raised at Chelo’s 25th Annual Golf Classic, which was held at the Cranston Country Club in mid-September. More than 100 golfers participated in the shotgun-style format, which also included a raffle and silent auction items. All proceeds from the tournament were donated to The Providence Center and dedicated to providing services for Rhode Island’s children.

“The Chelo family has always been committed to community service and helping those in need. The mission of the Providence Center has touched us all and the Chelo family wishes to extend the proceeds from our 25th Annual Charity Golf Classic to them,” Craig Chelo said, in a statement following the event.
