Chief for a day

Braylon “Bray” O’Neill, 6, became the Cranston Police Department’s “chief for a day” last week. Accompanied by his mother, Kerri, Bray was sworn in by Col. Michael Winquist, received a tour of the department’s Garfield Avenue headquarters, and later stopped at the Training Academy to give retiring K9 Bosco his last assignment. Bray, of Cranston, was born with malformed feet, no bones in his lower legs, and three fingers on his left hand fused together, but he has overcome those obstacles – with the held of cutting-edge, mechanical lower legs – to become an athletic and highly active child. He was featured in a Microsoft ad that aired during last year’s Super Bowl.
