We have seen a number of Cirque du Soleil productions over the years and have never been disappointed. Many of the world’s top circus performers dream of being part of the troupe of actors that make up 19 different shows that travel the world and have permanent locations in Las Vegas and Walt Disney World.
This July 1-6 “Varekai” will wow audiences at the Dunkin Donuts Center. The show has played to over 8 million people in 72 cities and 20 countries since it opened in Montreal in 2002.
The Dunk will be turned into a magical forest located at the foot of a volcano. A young man parachutes in and meets fantastical creatures that perform incredible feats. Clowns lighten things up as acts change and blend into the story.
Choreography, costumes, make-up, music and ancient and rare circus traditions are all part of the amazing show, featuring jugglers, acrobats and unusual, highly skilled acts that are seldom seen in other circuses. Wait until you see “The Flight of Icarus,” plus “Russians Swings” and “Slippery Surface.”
“Varekia” is an old gypsy word loosely translated as “Whatever.” And whatever appears before you will transcend you to another world, as you watch over 50 performers and musicians from 18 countries.
Tickets are available at the Dunkin Donuts box office, ranging in price from $40 to $150.
