Clarence A. “Reg” Wagner

Clarence A. “Reg” Wagner, age 80, of Grassmere Street, Warwick, died at home on November 29, 2013. He was the husband of Janice M. (Plante) Wagner for 30 years.

Born in Cuzco, Indiana, a son of the late Carel W. and Thelma (Nolan) Wagner, he lived in Cranston before moving to Warwick 30 years ago. Mr. Wagner served in the United States Navy Seabees from 1951-1971, and was a veteran of the Korean & Vietnam Wars. He was a member of Operation Deep Freeze I and II, which built the first American bases at the South Pole. He belonged to the Fleet Reserve, Branch 42, and the American Legion. From 1975-1995, Mr. Wagner was employed as a maintenance engineer at Angelica Textile in Pawtucket.

Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Reginald R. Wagner and his wife Lori of Coventry, two daughters, Deborah S. Steele of Warwick and Janie Norris of North Carolina; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a step-son, Russell Trottier of Pennsylvania, two step-daughters, Debra DaSilva of Pawtucket and Christine St. Jacques of Lincoln; four step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Doras ”Ed” Wagner, Carol Sue Griffin, and Thelma Mae Wagner.

His funeral was held on Monday, December 2, from the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Spring Green, Warwick. Burial with military honors was in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
