Every Tuesday, starting on Sept. 18, “Families Helping Families” will meet from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Clinical Services of Rhode Island.
Family members are deeply affected by the addiction of their loved ones. They are hurting, angry, disappointed, frustrated, full of resentment and focused on the addict. Counseling focused on the addict is not the kind of help that families require. Families need their own help separate from the alcohol or drug-addicted patient. Just as the addict has to take responsibility for their own recovery, so do the family members.
Reinhard Straub, CEO and clinical director of Clinical Services of Rhode Island, has been working with families affected by addiction for more than 23 years. A skilled and experienced interventionist, Reinhard has conducted over 1,000 successful interventions. He has increasingly moved away from intense family confrontations that used to be designed to smash the addict’s resistance and denial. His approach is less confrontational with honest education and support that includes family coaching and strategic planning. Reinhard will be offering and facilitating a free program to the public entitled “Families Helping Families.”
Join Reinhard every Tuesday at Clinical Services of Rhode Island (CSRI), located at 600 Putnam Pike, Suite 7, in Greenville. For more information, visit www.ClinicalServicesRI.com, or call Reinhard at 949-2220 or on his cell at 741-5109.
