Cloud's Hill Harvest Super raises $11,500

The rain didn’t let up Oct. 1, but that didn’t dampen the spirits of more than 75 people who joined under a tent at Clouds Hill Victorian House Museum for the 4th Annual Harvest Supper Fundraiser.

The evening began with a cocktail hour of special cider drinks and hors d'oeuvres and, a visit from Mayor Scott Avedisian who said a few words on preservation in Warwick, recognizing Clouds Hill as one of the special historic sites in the city.

After a brief welcome and a short presentation by Bill & Roberta Browning of Browning Homestead Farm, a buffet meal, prepared by Tom's Market Catering and featuring items donated by local farms and businesses, was enjoyed by everyone. The evening included wines from Gasbarro's Wines in Providence, a small silent auction and live auction and, in keeping with the theme for this year, a well received no-carve pumpkin decorating competition. The evening raised $11,500 for Clouds Hill and all proceeds are used to support the continued preservation of the museum.

Donations to the evening's meal came from Bailey Brook Farm in East Greenwich, Browning Homestead Farm in Matunuck, Timberdoodle Farm in Scituate, Schartner Farm in Exeter, and Chef-a-Roni Fancy Foods of East Greenwich. Sponsorships for the evening's events were generously given by the City of Warwick Department of Tourism, Culture & Development and Independence Bank of East Greenwich.

Local artists Daniel Dragon of Dragon Wood Turners and MadeFromRI, LLC of South Kingstown donated items to the auction along with Dr. and Mrs. Vincent Brunelle, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Catanzaro, the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra & Music School and the Miller-Porfiris Duo.

The fifth Annual Harvest Supper will be held Saturday, September 30, 2017. The theme next year will be the orchard.

Clouds Hill Victorian House Museum is operated solely by volunteers, there are no paid employees. For more information on Clouds Hill Victorian House Museum and our Annual Harvest Supper, visit cloudshill.org or call 884-9490.
