Coastway gets raves as After Hours host

Coastway Community Bank received rave reviews for hosting the Central Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours last Wednesday at their branch at 3830 Post Rd.

“Great event, great agenda, great host,” said chamber president Lauren Slocum of the three-hour informative business and social meeting.

For starters, Coastway Community Bank scored high ratings as far as what the event is supposed to be.

“Business After Hours is an opportunity to visit a local business and learn more about how it works behind the scenes while enjoying an evening of networking in a relaxed social setting,” Slocum said. “It is ideal for meeting fellow professionals, suppliers, community leaders and clients while you establish long-lasting business relationships.”

In that regard, Coastway met every criteria, as Ann Capaldi, the branch manager/assistant vice president who has been with the bank for 14 years, along with staffers Peter C. Renden, Karen Flynn, Jillian Wright and Tara Cunha took time to explain many phases and offerings of the ever-growing financial company.

“Our hosts also treat you to a scrumptious array of hors d’oeuvres while you sip on a glass of fine wine, beer, soda or water,” Slocum said.

Capaldi enlisted the services of Shelley Maezes, who, along with her husband Joey, owns and operates Cork & Brew and Spirits too in Pawtuxet Village.

“It’s like this is a mini wine and beer tasting,” said Brent Wyrostek, president of Arrest-A-Pest, Inc. To which Chris Allen, the Central RI Chamber’s sales and marketing director added, “The Pinot Noir is wonderful.”

Capaldi contracted Rich Paolo, an accomplished chef who has a membership in four chambers of commerce and who owns and operates Pamphlet’s Italian Deli, Ristorante, Catering located at 1800 Mendon Road in Cumberland.

“Rich’s food is fantastic,” chamber staffer Sarah Stoves said. “When I find out who’s catering what event and I hear his name, I know the people will be more than pleased.”

Door prizes were also featured at the event that could be won by placing a business card in a glass bowl.

Winners of the night’s drawing, which included Providence Bruins tickets, two tours and tasting at Shela Lara Vineyards, travel mugs and a $25 gift certificate to Cork & Brew, were: Shawn Lynch, Michael Feiler, Joe Weiss, Suzanne Accardo and Jon Tetrault.
