Hendricken products Ryan Brannigan and Stanley Sainterlien squared off on the gridiron Saturday afternoon as Endicott battled Curry in the conference opener for both Brannigan’s Gulls and Sainterlein’s Colonels.

In the end, it was Brannigan who emerged on top as Endicott raced out to a 21-0 lead en route to a 28-6 victory over Sainterlein’s Curry squad.

It was a productive afternoon for both former Hawks, with Brannigan recording a season-high six tackles for the Gulls and Sainterlein responding with five stops of his own for the Colonels.

Sainterlein now has 19 tackles on the season for Curry, who are still in search of their first win of 2014, while Brannigan is now up to 10 for Endicott, which, with the win, is now 2-2 on the campaign.

Notes

In other football action, Warwick Vets graduate Nick Salois notched five tackles but it wasn’t enough to prevent Bridgewater State from dropping a 21-17 decision to Fitchburg State on Friday night, snapping the Bears’ two-game winning streak in the process . . . Warwick native Nicole Leahy started in goal in Wentworth’s defeats against Salve Regina in soccer on Saturday and Western Connecticut on Monday, with the Leopards losing both matches by identical 2-1 scores . . . Former Hendricken standout Conor Doyle, now running for UMass-Lowell, finished in 35th place at the Iona Meet of Champions on September 20, running the eight-kilometer course in 26 minutes, 42.3 seconds.
