Alexis Maloney, a fourth-grade student at Brown Avenue Elementary School in Johnston, was the winner of this year’s “Colors of Christmas” holiday coloring contest sponsored by Beacon Communications. She is seen with her winning entry and her mother, Lisa Maloney, who helped complete the picture. Alexis said the use of a green border was meant to give the image the feel of a framed picture. She and her sister, 14-year-old Xavier, previously won an art contest together through the Artists’ Exchange in Cranston. “My sister’s the artist,” said Alexis, who enjoys math and science.
