Coming together to fight MS

To the Editor:

I live in Warwick and I am one of millions of people who have joined the movement to end multiple sclerosis. I’m writing you to ask for your help in changing the lives of people living with MS in this community and across the country by publishing the following letter.

Every hour, someone is diagnosed with MS, a chronic disease of the central nervous system for which there is no cure. Multiple sclerosis interrupts the flow of information within the brain and between the brain and body. It is a life-altering disease that affects each person in a unique and different way. The Rhode Island Chapter of the MS Society is located in Warwick.

MS Awareness Week takes place March 11-18. It is an opportunity to demonstrate the power and importance of the MS movement as a force by and for people with MS who are coming together across the nation to share, educate and build awareness about what MS means to them.

It’s easy to get involved. It only takes a few minutes to make a difference in the lives of the millions of people worldwide that live with this disease.

To learn about MS Awareness Week events in Rhode Island, or to sponsor a walker or cyclist in a Walk MS or Bike MS event, or to participate yourself, visit www.nationalMSSociety.org/rir.
