Commission on Disabilities seeks new members

Residents who are interested in serving on the Mayor’s Advisory Commission on Disabilities are invited to submit their name for consideration for appointment.

The commission was established in April 1978 by former Mayor Joseph Walsh to address “barriers in our community that may affect mental and/or physical disabilities and to generate citizen awareness of those issues.”

The purpose of the commission is to develop and maintain a comprehensive and coordinated information/advisory network system in Warwick. The commission recommends priorities for action to the mayor.

Services include but are not limited to: continuous assessment of barriers that may affect individuals with disabilities/special needs, planning and development of new programs, recommending priorities for legislative action, and monitoring existing programs.

If you are a Warwick resident interested in serving on the commission, call Pat Seltzer, RN, in the Department of Human Services at 468-4103 or send a letter requesting to serve and a resume to: The Honorable Scott Avedisian, c/o Pat Seltzer, RN, 3027 West Shore Road, Warwick, Rhode Island, 02886.
