Community invited to join in reading of complete Bible

St. Mark’s Episcopal Church is reading the Bible and all are invited to join in the experience.

“Few of us have ever taken the opportunity to read the entire Bible. It is a daunting task to try alone. And so this year the people of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church are going to do it together. And we are inviting the community to join us,” said the Reverend Susan Wrathall.

“The Story: The Bible as One Continuing Story of God and His People” will be used for the reading to take over 31 weeks. Each reading will include sharing, listening to and learning from the sacred story.

There are two opportunities for people to participate.

A group will meet each Wednesday beginning Sept. 26 from 7:15 to 8 p.m. and work through “The Story” chapter by chapter. A group will also meet the 1st Saturday of each month beginning Oct. 6 from 8:30 to 10 a.m. to discuss several chapters and dig a little deeper.

“And if Wednesdays work sometimes and Saturdays others, just mix and match. Simply read the assigned chapters and come to whichever session is convenient. For those of you who might wish to explore more deeply each week, you will have the opportunity to read the corresponding chapters from the Bible,” said Mother Susan.

“The Story” (Zondervan publishing) can be purchased through Amazon or Barnes & Noble and is available for the Nook or Kindle.

St. Mark’s Episcopal Church is located at 111 West Shore Road. For more information, check out the church website: www.stmarkswarwick.org or call the church office at 737-3127) and ask to speak with Rev. Susan Wrathall.
