Construction trade association elects officers

Philip P. Freshman, president of Alpha Electrical Contractors, Inc., located in East Providence, has been elected chairman of the Rhode Island Chapter of Associated Builders & Contractors (ABC-RI).

Assuming the role of chair-elect is Anne Powers, owner of American Tele-Connect Services, Inc. of Warwick. She is a past chair and will assume the position of chair of the board in 2018. Both Freshman and Powers will serve on ABC’s National Board of Directors.

The Immediate Past Chair of the Board is John “Jay” Cardosi, president of J.J. Cardosi, Inc., of East Providence. Under Cardosi’s leadership, the Rhode Island Chapter of ABC developed a robust series of free or discounted educational seminars for members, including sessions on prevailing wage, accounting issues, HR management, and the like.

Continuing as the 2017 vice chairman is Tony Raposo of William Anthony Excavating, Co. of North Kingstown. Judith Ventura Enright, CPA with Citrin Cooperman & Company LLP, of Providence was named as Treasurer. Lynn Kent of Robert F. Audet, East Greenwich, a long-time member of ABC and past chair, was named secretary.
