Constructively avoiding war

To the Editor:

I want to express my admiration and praise to Senators Reed and Whitehouse for not just serving R.I. admirably, but also our country and the world. Their thoughtful and courageous stance and support of the Iran Nuclear Agreement will help to restore America’s standing as a world power.

America has demonstrated that it can be an aggressive power, but courage and standing are not solely based on aggression. In fact, it is a trait that is more common of bullies than leaders. Recently the world called Putin and Russia bullies for their aggressive actions in the Ukraine.

The world knows very well that we outspend and outnumber China and Russia combined in possessing the machinery of war. The night skies in Baghdad were illuminated with our power – shock and awe. Twelve years later we are still fighting that war.

Power is more than aggressive force; it is also the courage and the ability to influence and direct world affairs without having to drop bombs. It is the ability to use the power of our values to constructively avoid war and to make the world a safer and more stable place. America’s power of influence was diminished because of our reactive aggressive behavior in Iraq. Thanks to Senators Reed and Whitehouse, we have a chance to regain our power of influence and to avoid unnecessary bloodshed of Rhode Islanders and Americans. Take care, give care and be present.

With all due respect Mr. Wojick, this reads like it came from reed's press office. Having said that, I'll assume that you have read all 159 pages of obama's folly? If you have not, you really don't know what you are talking about...In the interest of full disclosure, you aren't a former staffer, campaign worker or big donor to the senator's or congressmen? I will do my own due diligence...in the interest of fair play and full disclosure.
