The Container Store in Garden City Center will open on Saturday, May 17.

The Cranston location will be the company’s 66th nationally and the first in Rhode Island. The company – which specializes in storage and organization products – said it plans to add approximately 40 jobs at the new store, and interested candidates are encouraged to apply online at www.containerstore.com/careers. Full- and part-time sales and merchandising positions are available.

During the store’s opening weekend, Crossroads Rhode Island will receive 10 percent of sales. The mission of Crossroads Rhode Island is to help homeless or at-risk individuals and families secure stable homes. 

The Container Store is also in search of its “Rhode Island Super Fan,” with interested candidates encouraged to visit the company’s Facebook page to leave a comment about why they are worthy of that status. The winner will receive recognition and gain special access to the grand opening celebration, which includes an invitation to the Private Preview Party, being first in line at the opening on Saturday, a “Super Fan” sash, a crown, a “tricked out” gold shopping cart, a box filled with products, a year subscription to Real Simple magazine and a $250 Store More Card.

The 25,000-square-foot store in Garden City will feature more than 10,000 multi-functional and innovative products designed to solve organizational challenges. Products will be organized in 16 signature lifestyle departments, such as closet, kitchen, office, travel, gift packaging and laundry.
