Coutu Bros Movers, a local and long-distance moving company based in Warwick and serving Rhode Island since 1940, has opened a new 8,000-square-foot storage facility and has expanded its services to include moves on the entire East Coast.
The company, which recently moved its headquarters to 2 Greco Lane in Warwick, is believed to be the only independent moving company in Rhode Island to offer storage. Coutu is not a franchise or an agent for any national moving company.
The new storage facility offers fire and smoke alarms, motion detectors, 24-hour video surveillance, climate control and brand new storage vaults for clients.
Customers who are building a home, renovating their home, between moves, or relocating for business reasons can store items for as short a time as overnight, or as long as they need.
The company was founded 63 years ago by the Coutu brothers. Its current president, Bob Romano, purchased it in 2000 and has grown it from one to four trucks, as well extending the area served beyond Rhode Island.
Coutu Bros serves both residential and commercial customers and specializes in short-notice moves. Romano says the company can move a customer the day the customer calls, based on availability.
The company is licensed by the Rhode Island Public Utilities Commission and is a member of the American Moving & Storage Association, the Massachusetts Movers Association, the Rhode Island Trucking Association and the Better Business Bureau.
