Applications are now being accepted for the 2014 Cox Communications Scholarship program. Eligible high school seniors who excel academically, demonstrate strong community involvement and are interested in pursuing a degree in communications, engineering, telecommunications or technology are encouraged to apply. Scholarships will be awarded in the amount of $2,000 each.

"Cox is committed to supporting youth and education initiatives throughout our local communities by providing scholarships, as well as funding much needed after-school programming," John Wolfe, senior vice president and general manager, Cox Communications Northeast, said in a statement. "We hope these scholarships will ease some of the hefty financial concerns that come with a college education and help these future college students achieve their academic and career goals."

High school seniors can obtain a Cox Scholarship application from their guidance counselor or online by visiting tiny.cc/CoxScholarRICT.

Completed applications must be received electronically by Friday, March 7. A selection committee will review the applications and 19 students from Rhode Island, Connecticut and Ohio will be selected to each receive a $2,000 scholarship.

Through the Cox Scholarship program, the company has presented more than $390,000 in scholarship funds since 1994 to deserving high school students in the Northeast.
