Crafting for Critters to raise funds for Warwick Animal Shelter

Posted

From handcrafted jewelry to food and bake ware, the Crafting for Critters Spring Craft Fair has it all.

The fair, sponsored by the Friends of the Warwick Animal Shelter, will be hosted at the Buttonwoods Community Center Saturday, May 9. More than 40 vendors will be selling a variety of goods including, stained glass, Silpada, Pampered Chef house ware and crafts for animal lovers. The Friends of the Warwick Animal Shelter will also have their own table accepting donations and selling merchandise.

Several other vendors have already dedicated a percentage of their sales from the fair as a donation to the shelter as well.

Judy Salvadore, a member of Friends of the Warwick Animal Shelter, said with such a “wide variety” of vendors everyone can find something they want. She also said, “If you want something special for your animal or you don’t have something for Mother’s Day it’s a good place to pop in and get her a present.”

Currently, the animal shelter has eight dogs and 35 cats and there will be a list of adoptable animals at the fair.

All the funds raised will go to caring for the animals at the shelter, and a majority of that will go to spaying and neutering the animals.

Despite the “great condition” of the shelter, Salvadore said some people just don’t want to go down to the facility. The animals are “free range,” she said, and aren’t left in tiny cages.

Salvadore said, “We hope people come out to support the shelter. It’s clean, new and bright; we have a great shelter.”

The Crafting for Critters Spring Craft Fair will be Saturday, May 9 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Buttonwoods Community Center, 3027 West Shore Road. Admission is free. Pets are not allowed at the facility.

The Warwick Animal Shelter at 101 Arthur W. Devine Blvd. is open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 12 to 4 p.m. On Saturday and Sundays it is open from 11a.m. to 3 p.m. It is closed Thursdays and holidays.
