Cranston man dies in car crash

The Warwick Police responded to a fatal car and pole accident in the area of Old Forge Road and Post Road at 1:32 a.m. on June 2.

Police said the driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle and had to be extricated by the fire department. The operator of the vehicle was transported to Kent Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The victim has been identified as Frank Bailey, 46, of Cranston.

The Traffic Division’s Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating the collision. The vehicle was operating north on Post Road and left the roadway striking a traffic signal utility pole on the east side of the road. No other vehicles were involved in the collision.

Police are continuing the investigation to determine whether speed, drinking or drugs were significant factors in the collision.
