Crate and Barrel is slated to open a 15,000-square-foot store in Garden City Center in the spring.
An announcement from the shopping center on Tuesday confirmed the new arrival. The store will be located between Sephora and The Container Store, and it will mark the completion of phase two of the transformation of former big box stores at the center into smaller shopping locations.
“Known for exclusive housewares and furniture design, excellent value and superb customer service, Crate and Barrel will join more than a dozen local, regional and national retailers with an exclusive Ocean State presence at Garden City Center,” the announcement reads.
“We look forward to opening our Garden City Center location next spring,” Crate and Barrel CEO Doug Diemoz said through the announcement. “The Wilder Companies has created an exciting lifestyle center with a compelling mix of shopping and dining destinations. It’s a great fit for Crate and Barrel and the perfect setting to introduce our full collection of furniture and housewares to Providence area customers.”
“Crate and Barrel’s arrival once again sends a strong signal that the transformation of Garden City Shopping Center over the last several years has truly created Rhode Island’s premier outdoor shopping destination,” Cranston Mayor Allan Fung said. “The Garden City Center store will bring more people to Cranston, further enhancing the economic spin-off to other businesses in our city and allowing us to showcase all that Cranston has to offer.”
“The addition of Crate and Barrel puts the finishing touch on a unique retail mix that offers design aficionados, those looking for a home makeover, and even those just starting out with a destination home design and decor shopping location,” said Maria Salvatore, leasing with The Wilder Companies, management company for Garden City Center. “Shoppers will also find Williams Sonoma, Ethan Allen, Pottery Barn and The Container Store all within walking distance of each other.”
