Dolores (Cotnoir) Quinn, 100, passed away peacefully July 12, 2011 at her home on Melbourn Rd., Warwick, surrounded by her loving family. Del was the devoted wife of the late John F. Quinn, former Pawtucket mayor (1933-37).
Born in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Marie Ann (Paradis) Cotnoir. A consummate wife, mother and homemaker, Del was first lady of Pawtucket at the age of 23 during her husbands mayoralty. She made her home in that city for 40 years before moving to the family summer home in Cedar Tree Point, Warwick, where she has resided since 1982.
Del traveled extensively with the Brown University Alumni Association, was a volunteer at Pawtucket Memorial and Kent Hospitals, the American Heart Association and the Sunshine Club. A member of the Potowomut Golf Club, she played golf into her 90s and bridge well into her 100th year.
She is survived by sons John F. Quinn Jr. of Warwick and Richard M. Quinn and his wife, Jean, of Indianapolis, Ind.; daughters Dolores D. Splaine and her husband, David, of East Greenwich and Patricia Q. Stack and her husband, Richard, of Ballston Lake, N.Y. She also leaves 16 grand-children and 25 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son, Thomas Quinn of Troy, Mich., and five brothers.
Calling hours were July 15 in Urquhart-Murphy Funeral Home, 800 Greenwich Ave., Warwick. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated July 16 in SS. Rose & Clement Parish, 111 Long St., Warwick. Interment followed in Mount St. Marys Cemetery, Pawtucket Ave., Pawtucket.
