Records dating back to the 1800s show the bridge on Sea View Drive in Oakland Beach was called “Danger Bridge,” and that won’t change, although there’s an all-new bridge, which is really safe. The former bridge – actually a culvert connecting a tidal pond to Brush Neck Cove – was crumbling and in need of replacement. The city’s Department of Public Works took on the job, working on the project since July depending on the tide and other city work they were doing. “It’s one of the nicer jobs we’ve done. I’m really proud of the guys,” DPW director David Picozzi said yesterday. Picozzi put the cost of the work at under $100,000.
