David L. Tillman, Warwick P.D., Detective Sgt., Ret., 91, died July 21, 2016 at home. He was the husband of the late Ann H. (Lundberg) Tillman.

He was the son of the late Carl L. and Anna L. (Bender) Tillman and the brother of the late Eugene Tillman. David was a United States Army veteran and a 28 year veteran of the Warwick Police Department serving six years in uniform and 22 years as a detective. He received an associate degree in Law Enforcement from Salve Regina College. He also attended a FBI Seminar on fingerprinting and became an expert witness by the court in this field. David enjoyed the game of golf especially with his brother Don. He and his wife traveled frequently through Europe and the Caribbean.

David is survived by a daughter: Karen L. Van Dijk of Warwick; and three grandchildren: Christiaan L., Gregory D. and Marijke K. Van Dijk. He is also survived by his brothers: Donald R. Tillman (Betty) of Warwick and Clifford R. Tillman (Marjorie) of FL.

David’s funeral and burial will be private. He will be laid to rest beside his wife of 62 years at Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery in No. Kingstown.
