Deserving of special treatment?

To the Editor:

During last week’s DNC, one of the props used by the Democrats was Khizr Khan. His son, Captain Humayun Khan, was killed while serving in the U.S. Army in 2004. Mr. Khan expressed outrage that Donald Trump wanted to stop U.S. entry of Muslims in spite of the fact that Muslims have fought in the U.S. military.

Sadly, he lost his son and all Americans can appreciate the pain he must endure. Many thousands of other American families have experienced similar losses during this war. However, his indignation is misplaced. Would the same outrage have emanated during WWII from German American families in the face of similar immigration restrictions? I think not, as common sense would have prevailed.

Assume an Irish immigrant’s son got killed fighting for America, in Ireland, to help rid Ireland of the IRA. And further assume the IRA was bombing the hell out of Ireland and they had already attacked America promising to continue the killing. Then do you think the family of the fallen soldier would complain, or have a right to complain, because a candidate for president wanted to bar all immigration from Ireland until the process was secure enough to insure the life and limb of all Americans?

And should the aggrieved parent choose to complain, waving the Constitution as did Mr. Khan, who is more important, American citizens or alien Irishmen? All reasonable people know the answer. Therefore, why do vast numbers of alien Muslims deserve, in the middle of a war, to be given special treatment while placing American citizens in jeopardy?

Right on Mr Stirr. On top of that, Mr Kahn while flaunting the US Constituion declared earlier in his career (according to Breibart News) that Sharia law trumps (pardon) the US Constitution, meaning that Muslims are to obey that law rather than the US Constitution- so much for his undying support for our Constituition.
