House District 21

Education: Johnson & Wales University, Degree in Occupational Science

Dining Services Director for Genesis Healthcare

Member of St. Timothy's Parish

RI Healthcare Association dietary section

The major issues facing district 21 are similar to the issues facing all of RI, an economic standstill, unbearable tax burden, and an unresponsive and out of touch representative.   We need to control the budget by ending the out of control spending starting with all legislative, community and departmental grants.  If these items are worthy of our money they should be part of the budget not handed out as political favors. The economy can be jump started by lowering the sales tax back to 5%, increasing spending, especially along our borders, eliminating the excise tax and paying for it with the monies saved by getting rid of the grant program and other common sense budget cuts, and by stopping the tolls program which will force companies to leave our state.  Finally, electing responsible leaders who answer to their constituents, not political leaders and lobbyists.

Warwick has a Legislative Charter. I’d continue my work with the Charter Review Commission to research changes; work with our Warwick delegation to build consensus with members of the General Assembly and put forward the Bill to establish/adopt a Home Rule Charter, shifting voting control from the State Legislature to our local government.

The tax base from single-family homes continues to decrease in the shadow of airport expansion, placing an unfair burden upon the property owners in Warwick. I’d explore increasing the fiscal obligations RIAC has to the City of Warwick.

The brownfields in Warwick, including Super Fund Sites have been virtually ignored by RIDEM with regards to testing the growth of pollution plumes, cleaning sites and permanently capping them. I’d lead the charge to obtain a fair portion of State resources to address these environmental hazards.

The Funding Formula significantly shorted Warwick School Department. The Governor’s Special Committee charged with its review was restricted from suggesting monetary increases. According to “Climate Change Collaborative,” 185 visitors pay for one RI public school student for one year. I’d explore how we could significantly grow tourism beyond a “vacation industry” and use the funds to increase State aid to schools.

The biggest issues are: to reduce tax and regulatory burden by legislation & budget; Warwick School Construction by legislation and state funding support; solving Warwick Pond & Buckeye Brook's environmental crisis. Established an Interagency Task Force with federal, state, local and community leaders and implement the agencies plans to improve flow and prevent for both Warwick Pond and Buckeye Brook and reduce nutrients entering into the watershed.

On the campaign trail, neighbors have spoken about important issues and I have listened. As a legislator with a proven history of helping people work together to solve our toughest challenges, I am confident we will find solutions.

My record shows that I consistently voted to lower taxes. I supported tax exemptions for Social Security recipients, reduced the minimum corporate tax to help small businesses, slashed beach fees, increased the minimum wage, gave cities a voice on charter schools and helped breweries.

Locally, I worked to reset manhole covers on West Shore Road. Next up is a traffic study on Lincoln Road.

Future endeavors focus on improving our education system, economy and environment.

Specifically, after hearing firsthand about awful conditions at Veterans Junior High School, I will take the lead in securing more school construction money. Current conditions are unacceptable and our students and teachers deserve better.

At Warwick Ponds, I will work to prevent toxic blooms. My commission is eager to develop ways to protect our drinking water and prevent lead poisoning.

I plan to create a developmental disabilities ombudsman--to watch out for the most vulnerable. I will advocate for more education aid, small business tax incentives and bigger tax exemptions for seniors.

With the voters' support, I will zealously work for Warwick and its residents. And together, we will succeed.

Camille Wilkinson, The Great Warwick Panda-er is the last person we need in the general assembly. She has voted 6 years in a row to raise taxes on Warwick Residents, been fined by the Attorney General twice for open meeting violations, circumvented the city charter to hire her friend Kathleen Avila who did ZERO for 9 months other than collect $35K and free healthcare. She has consistently attempted to sequester residents first amendment rights, she has been sued for defamation of character and slander, she voted for contracts that she openly admitted that she did not read, she has been recorded at city council meetings calling residents in attendance foul and derogatory names, and most recently is in violation of the city ordinace 803.5 on signs as she has oversized signs at several locations and signs on state and city property. As a member of the ordinance committee one would think that she would understand the city ordincances. I guess she isnt smart enough to know them or is blatently violating them. Is this what we need in the GA? I think not!

Eileen Naughton really, really must go! When I contacted her about gov Gina Raimondo's horrible Road Works car/truck highway tolls bill, she was arrogant, belittling, and did not in the least want to hear my concerns. She was already planning to vote for the car/truck tolls, since that's what speaker Mattiello told her to do.

She did just that and voted YES on TOLLS, which is NOW state law. Once these toll gantries are put up all over Rhode Island you and I are going to pay big-time!

Eileen always goes along with leadership.. she is the poster child of "go along to get along". Just look at her horrible voting record of voting with leadership for special interest and corporate give- aways: 38 Studios, Truck Tolls..... She is giving away your and my money!

She wouldn't know what an independent thought was if it fell on her head!

Please remember on Tuesday, September 13th to vote for anyone but Rep Eileen Naughton! She has been in the legislature far far too long and believes she is better and smarter than you or me. I think she may even have known Roger Williams....that's way too long to serve.

You would think that perhaps out of some sense of community fairness she would step aside and let someone else have an opportunity to serve.

Please remember to vote this Tuesday, September 13th and let Eileen Naughton know she is Not better than you or me. She must go!

Please Vote for DAVID KRUZONA or CAMILLE F VELLA WILKINSON.... Even if only by accident either one would have to be better than the status quo!
