The Warwick Firefighters’ dive and hazmat teams joined last week for a joint exercise and training at Rocky Point Park. Using a cage constructed from two by fours to simulate the compartment of a SUV, which was anchored off shore, divers recovered a mannequin. Under the scenario, the SUV was pushed into the water by a truck carrying chemicals. That’s where the hazmat team stepped in to decontaminate both the divers and the accident victim. In these photos, Battalion Chief James Kenney shows off the cage; a hazmat crew prepares to decontaminate the mannequin; diver Chris LeClair readies for a dive and emerges from the bay and team members listen to instruction.
