Donna A. (Holmes) Calabro, 72, of Warwick, died at home January 22, 2012 after a long battle with cancer.
Born in Pawtucket on June 7, 1939, the daughter of the late Norma (Duphiney) Holmes Traylor foster daughter of the late William and Alice Sweet of Warren, she lived in Warwick since 1967. Mrs. Calabro retired in 2004, due to illness, as a supervisor of television and phone services at Rhode Island and Massachusetts hospitals. She previously worked part time for several restaurants while attending the C.E.T.A. Program for Administrative Assistants.
Donna loved the beach house at Margaret’s mom’s house in Charlestown, needlepoint, home repairs, cooking and keno.
A special “thank you” to the person who sent many gift cards for two years; you know who you are. Also sincere thanks to Dr. Vincent Armenio and his staff for 14 years of compassionate, wonderful health care.
She was the proud mom of three sons, Fortunato A. “Tony” Calabro Jr. and his wife, Patricia, of Leominster, Mass., Eric T. Calabro of Warwick and Daniel D. Calabro and his wife, Rita, of Smithfield; sister of Susan Lewis and her husband, Jerry, of Pawtucket, Sharon Simas of Warwick, Melodie E. Traylor, Charles Traylor and his wife, Michelle, and David A. Traylor, all of Lakeland, Fla., Sue Pion and her husband, David, of Warren, and the late Robert P. Traylor, Dean D. Bouvier and Paula Holmes. She is also survived by her dear friend, Margaret C. Page of Sebastian, Fla., seven grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours Jan. 27 from 6-8 p.m. in Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Ave., Warwick. Please omit flowers.
