In a show of support for 8-year-old Dorian Murray, the Westerly boy whose courageous fight against terminal cancer gained global recognition on social media when he said his wish was to become famous all over the world, #D-Strong displays were held Friday at Randall Holden and Hoxsie Schools. In addition to the display of signs, Hoxsie students also raised more than $280 that will go to the Tomorrow Fund. Robert Markarian, vice president of the fund for children with cancer, visited the school to thank the students. Asked what “D” stood for, most of the elementary school students knew Dorian’s story. But that wasn’t the case for all. One student said he knew – “It’s for Donald Trump,” he said.
