Doris Maroni

Doris Maroni, 86, of 4100 Post Road in Warwick, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2013 at Elmhurst Extended Care in Providence. Doris was the loving wife of the late Arnold (Lindy) Maroni.

She was born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, to the late Bernard Leddy and the late Mary (Jordan) Leddy. Doris was a long time parishioner of St Gregory the Great Church in Warwick. Doris was a loving and kind lady with many friends and always put her family first. That meant traveling the globe in her later years to be with family and friends living in Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, Zimbabwe, Eritrea, Tanzania, and Kenya. She was a long time member of the East Greenwich Yacht Club and had been an active member of the Power Squadron and was a gourmet cook. For over 13 years Doris volunteered at McAuley House in Providence serving meals to the needy.

She is survived by two daughters and two sons; Ann Maroni, Robert Maroni, Jane Maroni and James Maroni and their families. Michael Greco and Ann reside in Singapore; with grandchildren, Zarima, Demetri and Thani. Stephen Quinn is a beloved stepson working in Alabama. Robert Maroni and Dr. Nadia Alalawi live in Jordan, with two granddaughters; Maya and Mira Maroni; Jane Maroni and her life partner Chris Nielsen, are living in Mexico. Doris is the sister to Bernard Leddy of Virginia and the late Catherine Leddy. James Maroni is the owner of Kingston Pizza, Quonset.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. at St Gregory the Great Church, 360 Cowesett Road, Warwick, RI, 02886. A private burial will be held at the Veterans’ Cemetery in Exeter, RI. Viewing hours are respectfully omitted.
