Dorothee E. “Dottie” (Parker) Selby, age 88, of Allard Street, Warwick, died on September 23, 2012 at Kent County Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of Charles H. “Bud” Selby. They were married for 70 years.
Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Charles E. and Harriet E. (Cottle) Parker, she lived in Warwick since 1937. Mrs. Selby was a member of the Woodbury Union Church, the Presbyterian Church Women, and the “Jolly Dozen” at Woodbury Union Church. She was a member and Past National Counselor of the Sons & Daughters of Liberty, and a member and past state officer of the Odd Ladies.
Besides her husband; she is survived by two sons, Thomas D. Selby and his wife, Marion of Warwick and Charles D. “Chuck” Wunderler-Selby and his wife, Barbara of West Kingston; a daughter, Linda A. Kerrick of Richmond, Virginia; a brother, John E. Parker of Valrico, Florida; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was the sister of the late Ernest E. Parker.
A committal service will be held on Wednesday, September 26, at 9:30 a.m. in the Rhode Island Veterans’ Cemetery, 301 South County Trail, Exeter. (Please gather just inside the cemetery entrance.) A memorial service will follow on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Woodbury Union Church, Presbyterian, 58 Beach Avenue, Warwick. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. in the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Spring Green, Warwick.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Memorial Fund of Woodbury Union Church, Presbyterian.
