Dorothy (Dotty) Anderson, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away on Saturday, November 21 at the age of 86 at West View Nursing Home in West Warwick. She will be remembered for her tenacious love of life and for her love for her family and for the pleasure and infectious joy she took in every new discovery, every new person and every new place. She was genuine and kind with a ready smile, a quick song or a kiss on the hand.

She was born and raised in Warwick and spent most her life residing in the Arnold's Neck section of the City. Her parents were Isaac George and Mildred (Pollard) Fecteau, with her large, extended maternal family having roots in Warwick prior to the Civil War. Dotty was an avid sportswoman in her youth and young adulthood, in particular excelling at softball and bowling. She was a member of her Lockwood High School chorus and had an amazing ability to harmonize, ad hoc, with almost any song. She was proud to have served as a teller at then Fleet Bank but moved on to the Apponaug Mill where she met and married her husband William (Andy) Anderson. After having raised her four children she went to work at and retired from Jay Printing. After her husband's death, she resided for several years at the Sparrows Point Apartments in Warwick and most recently was a resident of the West View Nursing Home in West Warwick.

Dotty is predeceased by her beloved husband, William J. Anderson, Sr. and by her brother, George I. Fecteau of Coventry. Dotty is survived by her daughters Laurel Anderson and her husband, Michael Haser of Trumbull, CT, Meredith Harrison and her husband, Michael of East Bridgewater, MA, Patricia Trombley and her husband, Dennis of West Greenwich, RI and by her son William J. Anderson, Jr. and his wife Kathleen of Hope Valley, RI. Dotty was known as Nana to her grandchildren Courtney Giguere of East Bridgewater, MA, Jillian Krebs of West Greenwich, Rachael Krebs of Cumberland, Ainsley Anderson of Brooklyn,NY and Caitlin and William J Anderson III of Hope Valley. She also leaves her two great-grandchildren: Emma Hill of East Bridgewater, MA and Jordan DaCosta of Cumberland. She is also survived by her sister, Joyce Faulkner of Avon Park, FL, and her children and sisters-in-law Norah DiBari of Warwick and Beverly Fecteau of Coventry and their children.

The family is immensely grateful to the nursing staff of West View who cared for Mom with skill, compassion and love and who were of invaluable support to the family in helping Mom on her final journey. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Interment will be private at Rhode Island State Veterans Memorial Cemetery, where she will be reunited with her husband.
