Ocean State Theatre Company (OSTC), currently celebrating its third season in its state-of-the-art theatre in Warwick, is proud to present Jason Robert Brown’s contemporary musical masterpiece, “The Last Five Years,” which will run at Ocean State Theatre from February 25 through March 15.

Named one of Time Magazine’s 10 best shows of 2001, Jason Robert Brown’s Drama Desk winner “The Last Five Years,” is a contemporary song-cycle musical, which ingeniously chronicles the five-year life of a relationship, from meeting to break-up – and from break-up to meeting – all at the same time. A frequently humorous, often romantic and intensely personal look at the relationship between a writer and an actress told from both points of view, his going forwards and hers going backwards. This intimate musical has received raves from critics and fans alike with songs that will stay with you long after you leave the theatre. Contains adult content/language.

OSTC’s managing producer Joel Kipper, who directed Family Fest productions of “Fabulous Fable Factory,” “Schoolhouse Rock Live!” and “How I Became a Pirate,” makes his Ocean State Theatre mainstage directing debut with “The Last Five Years.” He is joined by musical director Steven Ray Watkins, who music directed the award-winning cabaret, “Bloody Bloody Lennie Watts” (2013). Rhode Island native Alyssa Gorgone, who won rave reviews in OSTC productions of “Les Misérables” (Eponine) and “Legally Blonde” (Elle Woods), returns to portray Cathy and New York performer David Demato, who recently appeared in the Las Vegas cast of “Jersey Boys,” makes his OSTC debut in the role of Jamie.

“The Last Five Years” will be presented at Ocean State Theatre from February 25 to March 15. Previews are scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 25 at 7:30 p.m. and Thursday, Feb. 26 at 2 and 7:30 p.m. All other performances will be held Wednesday (except March 4), Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30 p.m., with matinees on Thursdays (except March 12), Saturdays at 2 p.m. (except February 28) and Sundays at 2 p.m. Conducting Conversations Live!, a free post-show discussion hosted by WCRI’s Mike Maino, will follow the 2 p.m. performance on March 1.
