Warwick School Resource Officer Nelson Carreiro will address the issue of drugs in our schools at an open forum tonight starting at 7 at Winman Junior High School. Carreiro will talk about prescription drugs that have gained such attention since the beginning of the year because of drug overdose deaths. He will also talk about the availability of street drugs. His presentation will last about a half hour and will be followed by questions and answers.
Carreiro said the presentation is for parents of students at Winman Junior High and Toll Gate High Schools and people residing in those districts. The same discussion will be scheduled for the other schools at a later date.
“I believe that the parents need to know what is out there and what their kids may potentially be exposed to. Education still remains the first line of defense when dealing with this problem that affects all of us,” Carriero said.
