Warwick resident Maggie Dufault recently took home a bronze medal at the USA Track & Field Junior Olympics in Baltimore, Md.
Dufault, a 2012 Pilgrim High School graduate, was the high school state champion in the hammer throw. She traveled to the Junior Olympics and took bronze in the Young Women’s division of the hammer throw. Dufault’s best throw of 158-02 was just off the pace of second-place finisher Ashley Weber. Avana Story won the title with a throw of 178-02.
Dufault was one of five Rhode Islanders to win hammer medals. The others were Charlie Ionata of Barrington, Carlos Magnum and Clarence Gallup of Providence, and Leia Mistowski of Narragansett.
