EMS Association annual expo is April 24 at Crowne Plaza

The Rhode Island Metro EMS Association will hold its annual EMS Expo Tuesday, April 24 at the Crowne Plaza in Warwick, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The expo consists of several different lectures, vendors, as well as breakfast and lunch. Sponsors of the event include Kent Hospital, Rhode Island Hospital, Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island, Rhode Island Association of Fire Chiefs, the Rhode Island State Association of Fire Fighters, Crisis Massage Team of Rhode Island and BoundTree Medical.

The expo will feature two lectures, “How VITAL are Vital Signs?” and “EMS from Death’s Perspective,” by Bob Page, BAS, NREMT-P, CCEMT-P, NCEE, director of Emergency Care Education at St. John’s Health Center in Springfield, Mo. Page is an internationally known speaker, award winning instructor, author, nationally registered paramedic and a critical care paramedic. He has been involved in EMS since 1978 when he became a CPR instructor. Page is the lead instructor for the paramedic program at St. John’s Health Center and has taught all levels of EMS and nursing.

There will be another lecture given before lunch, “The 20 Greatest Mistakes that EMS Leaders Make,” by Dan Manz, BS, EMT-1. Manz is an operations and logistics administrator at the office of Public Health Preparedness and EMS, Vermont Department of Health.

After lunch, Devin Tsai, DO, EMS Fellow, Department of Emergency Medicine at Brown University, will give the lecture, “Improving Rhode Island EMS Care through Quality Assurance.”

Tickets are $25. Fee includes breakfast, lunch and snack. Walk-ins are welcome, without the guarantee of lunch. Registration information can be found online, at www.rhodeislandemsexpo.com.
