Kent Hospital will host an education program for RI EMS discussing 12-Lead EKG recognition of STEMI-Emergency Angioplasty Service tonight from 5:30 to 8 p.m., in the Doctors’ Auditorium.  

Kent Hospital recently began performing elective angioplasty and will soon begin emergency angioplasty upon the completion of its new cath lab. In anticipation of providing this critical, life-saving procedure, the EMS community is invited to join us for an important discussion on the topic of 12-Lead EKG recognition of STEMI. 

Kent Hospital will welcome Bob Page, an international speaker and paramedic, who is an expert on the use of EKGs in the EMS setting. Page is known for his humor, high energy and advanced clinical knowledge gained from more than 35 years as a paramedic. His presentation is sure to be highly informative and important as Kent begins this new service.  

In addition to Page’s presentation, attendees will also hear from Kent’s Emergency Department staff and Care New England’s cardiovascular service. There will also be a question and answer session. 

Since the implementation of the coronary angioplasty program at Kent in August 2015, more than 50 successful procedures have been performed by interventional cardiologists, Ed Thomas, MD, and Ashish Shah, M.D., along with a team of highly trained nurses, technicians and other clinical support staff, who have been participating in additional and intensive training both locally at Kent and at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, a clinical affiliate with Care New England.
