Eleanor (Meanerhan) Collins-Sylvia, age 91, formerly of Richmond Drive, Warwick, died on June 18, 2012 in Sarasota, Florida. She was the wife of the late Raymond J. Collins and the late Francis J. Sylvia.
Born in Providence, a daughter of the late William and Mary (Queenan) Meanerhan, she lived in Warwick for most of her life, moving to Sarasota two and one-half years ago. She was a graduate of St. Xavier Academy in Providence and Rhode Island College. Eleanor was employed by American Airlines as a ticket agent for thirty-one years before her retirement. She was a communicant of St. William Church and St. Timothy Church, both in Warwick.
She is survived by a daughter, Maryann Collins Gribbin and her husband, Rory of Sarasota; two grandchildren, Shawna Gribbin Busch and Erin T. Gribbin, both of Sarasota; three stepchildren, Joseph F. Sylvia, Margaret Gillett, and William K. Sylvia, all of Warwick; five stepgrandchildren and five stepgreat-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Mary P. Barney and William Meanerhan, and the aunt of the late Daniel Barney.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, June 22, at 10 a.m. in St. Timothy Church, 1799 Warwick Ave., Warwick. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated in Florida on the same day. Burial will take place at a later date. Arrangements by Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, Warwick.
