Elite Physical Therapy now offering cancer rehab program

Elite Physical Therapy has launched a cancer rehabilitation program, one of the first private physical therapy practices in Kent County to have physical therapists earn the nationally-recognized STAR Clinician® Certification.

STAR Clinician Certification was developed by Oncology Rehab Partners, leading national experts in the field of survivorship care. In order to achieve certification, Elite’s physical therapists completed an advanced, comprehensive training program on the rehabilitation of cancer survivors.

The program focuses on the physical and emotional healing of cancer survivors. Due to the cancer itself and the chemotherapy and radiation treatments patients may receive, many survivors face fatigue, emotional distress, pain, balance and walking problems, weakness, muscle tightness, weight loss, sleep problems, and other conditions. According to Elite Physical Therapy’s founder and CEO, Dr. Michael Nula, these problems can be successfully treated with their new program.

“We understand that cancer treatment can take a great toll on people, both physically and emotionally,” said Dr. Nula. “Offering physical therapists that are STAR Clinician certified at each of our four locations, allows us to expand our physical therapy services in order to further help people in our surrounding communities improve their quality of life, particularly for cancer survivors and their families. We love to see people healthy, active and doing what they love doing as a result of our help.”

The comprehensive program is available to survivors of all forms of cancer. A compassionate, highly trained team of expert physical therapists works with each patient and their doctors on a personalized rehabilitation program to address all the conditions they experience after their cancer treatment. These efforts can help them increase strength and energy, alleviate pain and improve daily function.
