Elizabeth Ann Ricardo and George Jarrad Pate were united in marriage June 21, 2014 by Reverend Jonathan Gaspar at Our Lady of Mercy Chapel, Newport. Matthew Kelly was the organist. A reception was held at the Atlantic Beach Club, Middletown.

The bride is the daughter of Laurence and Katherine Ricardo of Cranston. She is a graduate of Cranston High School West and earned her BFA from New York University and her MFA from the University of Georgia. She is an actor with Shakespeare Rep in Beaufort, S.C.

The groom is the son of Michael and Georgianne Pate of Spartanburg, S.C. He is a graduate of Doorman High School and earned his B.A. from the University of South Carolina, his M.A. from the University of Tennessee and his PhD from the University of Georgia. He is an assistant professor at the University of South Carolina Beaufort.

The bride wore her mother’s gown for the ceremony. Purchased at Priscilla of Boston in 1982, the gown is of ivory duchess satin, has a portrait neckline, long tapered sleeves of Alencon lace. The fitted empire bodice is joined to a soft satin skirt that terminates in a sweeping cathedral train with a deep Alencon lace hemline. The veil is of ivory silk illusion and has a crescent cap and delicate appliqués of French Alencon lace. The bouquet was white hydrangeas and large pink garden roses. For the reception, the bride changed into a Bianchi of Boston ball gown.

Jade Toher of Smithfield was matron of honor, and Vanessa Rau of Berlin, Germany was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Tressa Preston of New York, N.Y., Kaitrin Hartnett of Boston, Mass., Kimberly Fowler of New York, Kellianne Floyd of Spartanburg, Bridget Horan of Boston and Erin Peirson of Hampton, N.H.

Michael Pate of Spartanburg and Alexander Stribling of North Augusta, S.C. were best men. Groomsmen were C. Adron Farris of Athens, Ga., Chad Henderson of Columbia, S.C., Thomas Ricardo of New York and Grant Floyd of Spartanburg.

The couple resides in Bluffton, S.C.
