Elizabeth “Tizzie” Schweizer, RN, 73, died Wednesday, August 20, 2014. She was the wife of the late Frederick W. Schweizer III, MD.
Born in Pelham, New York, a daughter of the late Philip H. and Harriet (Flaherty) Grove, she had resided in Ithaca, NY and Columbus, Ohio before moving to RI in 2012. A registered nurse, she was a graduate of Cornell School of Nursing and had worked with her husband at his medical practice while living in Columbus. Tizzie had a love for life, a caregiver at heart, she made everyone she met feel valued and had the ability to make friends everywhere she went.
She is survived by her son, Frederick W. Schweizer IV, PhD and his wife, Karleen (Bowie) Schweizer and his daughter, Janey E. Schweizer. She was the devoted grandmother of Darryl McDaniel, Andrew Molick, Ashley McCormick, Avia Schweizer and Caden Schweizer. She was the sister of Jane Murphy and the late Dennis Grove and Barbara Simoni.
Her visitation will be held Monday, August 25, 4-6 p.m. with a service at 6 p.m. in the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Chapel, 2435 Warwick Ave. Burial will be private.
