The Rhode Island State Elks Association is hosting their Annual 5k Walk for Drug Awareness program this Sunday at Warwick City Park beginning at 9 a.m. Registration will be $10 and all the proceeds will go towards bringing a speaker to at least six schools during the next year to discuss drug abuse prevention, and peer pressure.

Last year, the Elks Association drug awareness program reached more than 4,000 students through their speaker program.

In a press release, Public relation Chairman, Gina Kingsborough wrote, “The Elks Drug Awareness Program wants to provide assistance for youth and their parents with information and educational materials. The Elks hope to prevent many drug related problems for our youth before they start. Youth are our future. The Elks want to help make their foundation in life solid and drug free and their transition to adulthood smooth.”
