Erik D. Croll, 43, of Sodom Road, died suddenly at home on April 9, 2013. He was the beloved husband of Lori J. (Martin) Croll.

Born in Sanford, Maine, he was a son of Dr. David Croll of Sudbury, Massachusetts and Lucille

(Bouchard) Croll of Richmond, Virginia. He was a United States Army veteran of Desert Storm. He was one month away from completing his studies in Environmental Geoscience and would have graduated next month from Bridgewater State College receiving his BS degree with honors. His degree will be awarded posthumously. He worked as a master marine mechanic for nine years employed by Maritime Solutions, Inc. of Portsmouth, RI. Prior to that, he worked in the wine industry and as part of the Boston Housing Police. He was a USCG licensed marine captain. He presently was working as a part of the Water for Cambodia project and had made two trips to Cambodia to work on water issues. He also spent the past summer working on a research project of the Marshfield watershed and presented his findings at the annual AGU Conference in San Francisco this past fall. Erik loved to spend hours on the phone or on-line talking to friends from the comfort of his favorite chair. He will be remembered as an intense and passionate person who threw himself completely into every project he tackled.

In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by his brother Robert Croll of Acton, Mass.; and by his step-mother Dr. Lynne Ausman. He was the son-in-law of Gordon and Joan (Riley) Martin of Warwick.

His funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home & Crematory. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home & Crematory, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick. Burial with military honors will be in Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery, North Kingstown.
