Ernest A. Malo

Ernest A. Malo, CPA, 87, died on April 3, 2014 surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Teresa Pate Malo for 63 years.

Born in Warwick, a son of the late Alfred and Marie Louise Carpentier Malo. He was a Warwick resident for most of his life, leaving to serve in the United States Army. He served in the US Army in Korea and Japan. Ernie was a CPA for over 40 years. He was the founding member of Malo, Recchia and Company. He was a member of the RI Society of CPAs and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He graduated from Brown University in 1951 and Bryant College. He taught at Brown University and Bryant College.

He was a talented musician. He played trumpet and piano. As a young man, and during his service years, he organized and played in many bands. He loved Swing, Dixieland, and Jazz. He spent several summers on Block Island playing at the National Hotel, The Yellow Kittens and The Oar. He served on the boards of many corporations, notably, the Providence & Worcester Railroad. He summered for 40 years at Indian Rock Farms, Narragansett where he sailed, fished, quahogged, and enjoyed the serenity with his family.

He is survived by his son Geoffrey Pate Malo, CPA (Laurel) and daughter Leslie Malo Ashworth, RN (Michael). He leaves six grandchildren: Sarah Ashworth Lynch (Thomas), Heather Malo, Joseph Malo, PE (Erin), James Ashworth, MFA, Thomas Ashworth, and Kate Ashworth, BSN, RN. He was predeceased by his brother, Roland Malo.

At the request of the family, visiting hours are omitted. The funeral and burial will be private.
