Esther Chester, 94, of Dellwood Road, died February 16, 2012 at home. She was the beloved wife for 50 years of Dr. Samuel Chester.

Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Louis and Gertrude Greenberg, she had lived in Cranston for 35 years, previously residing in Pawtucket. Esther was a member of Temple Am David, Chaminade Music Club and past president for six years of the Chopin Music Club. She was a graduate of RISD through a five-year scholarship program. Esther was a RISD alumnus.

A prominent artist, her artwork is in the homes of many prominent people all over the world. Former President Bill Clinton also owns one of her art pieces. Esther won many awards for her artwork. As a pianist, she performed with many prominent orchestral groups, both locally and nationally.

She was the devoted mother of Nancy Parkinson of West Warwick; dear sister of the late Samuel Greenberg; and loving aunt of Linda Hornstein.

Funeral services were held Feb. 19 in Temple Am David, 40 Gardiner St., Warwick.
