Ethel L. Feldon-Sweatt
Ethel L. “G.G.” (Burdick) Feldon-Sweatt, 94, of Roberts St., West Warwick, formerly of South Kingstown and Warwick, died February 7, 2012 in South County Hospital, Wakefield. She was the widow of William C. Feldon and Blaine Sweatt.
She was born in Providence on Aug. 1, 1917, a daughter of the late George G. and Irene (Houlker) Burdick, and had been a resident of West Warwick for a short time, moving from South Kingstown after living for several years in Florida. Mrs. Sweatt had been a bookkeeper for RCA Distributors and had worked for many years as a secretary in the Warwick School System.
She was a longtime member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Warwick before moving to Florida, where she became an active member of her Lutheran Church, singing in the church choir, participating in the women’s Bible studies and became a member of the Lutheran Women’s League. She was an associate member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Kingston. To all those who knew her, she was a woman with a strong faith and was an example and inspiration to everyone.
Mrs. Sweatt is survived by two daughters, Carol A. Bolger and her husband, Robert, of Leesburg, Fla. and Dale Feldon of West Warwick; the adult children of Blaine Sweatt, Beverly Snyder, Blaine Sweatt, Elsa Tuggle and Carla Stevens; four grandchildren, Karen L. Bolger, Robert W. Bolger and his wife, Susan, William Ruggieri and his wife, Debra, and Douglas Ruggieri and his wife, Sasha; and six great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Kenneth Burdick.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 1817 Warwick Ave., Warwick. Interment will be private in North Burial Ground, Providence.
