Eva J. “Jo” (Lamontagne) Massie, age 83, of Warwick, died on Monday, June 30, 2014, at Kent County Memorial Hospital. Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Phillippe and Ernestine (LaCroix) Lamontagne, she lived in Warwick since 1961.

She was the loving wife of Raymond H. Massie for 56 years and the beloved mother of Lisa J. Clay (David) of Foster, Cynthia M. Cote (Derrick) of Maine, Valerie A. Carlucci (Mario) of North Smithfield, Joan E. Massie-Barr (Charles) of Florida, and John F. Massie (Odalia) of Warwick. She was also the loving second mother of Edward “Cousin Eddie” Lamontagne of Connecticut. Jo is survived by five sisters, Alice Fowler, Loretta DeScenzo, Therese Hicks, Jeannette Riedel, and Rita Walker O’Brien; and was the sister of the late Phillip, Edward, and Albert Lamontagne. She also leaves four grandchildren, Raymond Clay, Erika Ellis, Jonathan and Kayla Massie; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to being an extraordinary homemaker, Jo was an ardent volunteer for John Greene School, St. Kevin’s School, and other charitable organizations which helped women and families. She was an active member of the Meadowlark Seniors, the Red Hat Society, St. Kevin’s Women’s Club and volunteered countless hours of her time on many church activities and for several political candidates.

Her funeral was held on Monday, July 7, from the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Spring Green, Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Kevin Church, 333 Sandy Lane, Warwick.
