Cute as a daisy
Everything’s coming up…Daisies

In spirit of child abuse prevention month, which is May, three members of the Daisies Girl Scout Troop 86 visited City Hall last week and presented council members with pinwheels they constructed out of paper and pencils. Their creations symbolize the sheer joy of childhood and are part of the Pinwheels for Prevention Campaign, a statewide movement that is intended to bring the issue of child abuse and neglect to the attention of Rhode Islanders. The goal is to engage people to help prevent it from occurring. Council President Bruce Place holds up his pinwheels in support of the cause.

Rowen Klyberg, 7, a first grader at Warwick Neck Elementary School; Shaelin Donovan, 6, a first grader at Greenwood; and Rebecca Befumo, 6, also a first grader at Warwick Neck, enjoyed visiting City Hall to spread awareness about child abuse and neglect. Kate Begin, the executive director of Prevent Child Abuse Rhode Island, and Roberta Biano, the state chair of Advocates For Children and member of the Warwick General Federation of Women’s Clubs, accompanied them.
