(Action-packed sequel)

Fans of the series will love this action-packed, car-driven, chase movie. There’s not as much humor as some of the first six, but there sure is plenty of action. The team is back, and the 2¼-hour movie is off to a slow start as fans have a chance to catch up with them.

A sad cloud hangs over the film, as one of the big stars, Paul Walker, has ironically died in a car crash. He is given a major tribute at the end of the film.

We meet his character, Brian, as he tries to settle into a normal life with his wife and son. His pal Dominic (Vin Diesel) is trying to reconnect with his girlfriend, Letty (Michelle Rodriguez), as she struggles to recover from memory loss. The team assembles to capture the evil Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham), who is trying to avenge his brother-in-law’s death.

Series fans know all this, but the movie takes the time to bring them up to date and educate any newcomers. Once that business is taken care of, we have nearly two hours of nonstop action.

The fast and furious cars literally fly through the air as a government agent called Mr. Nobody (Kurt Russell) sends the team out to rescue Ramsey, a kidnapper computer hacker (Nathalie Emmanuel) and save the world.

The action starts in L.A. and goes on to Tokyo, Azerbaijan (ever heard of it?) and Abu Dhabi, with some breathtaking shots of winding roads, cliffs and tall buildings, where cars, trucks and buses speed, crash and fly in some of the wildest scenes you will ever see.

Federal Agent Bruce Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) is back, but he is wounded early in the movie, showing up at the end to save the day.

If you like the genre, you’ll love the movie.

Rated R for violence, profanity and incredible action scenes.
